Using Iphoto On Mac
We all know that iPhoto and Aperture for Mac are on borrowed time: Apple has already announced that the Mac app is going away in favor of a new iCloud-infused Photos app next year and iOS 8 doesn’t even allow users to launch the old iPhoto app. However, that’s not stopping Apple from giving iPhoto for Mac and Aperture for Mac final farewells. The Mac App Store was updated this evening with updates for iPhoto and Aperture that “addresses compatibility with OS X Yosemite and stability improvements.” It’s likely that this will be the last iPhoto update, if not one of the very last ones.

Apple has released a new security update for OS X Yosemite, and a separate version of the update for Macs released in early 2015, including the new 13″ MacBook Pro with Force Touch trackpads and the upcoming MacBook.
When you update to OS X Yosemite version 10.10.3 you will get the new Photos app, and by default it replaces iPhoto as your default photo-management app. Connect a camera to your Mac and Photos. Oct 17, 2014 I upgraded my 2010 MBP to Yosemite and when i try to launch iPhoto it gives me this 'The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS.X.Yosemite. Download the latest version for free from the Mac App Store' I click on the link in the message and go to iPhoto in the app store and the install button is not clickable.
The update is available for users running OS X 10.10.2 in the Updates tab of the Mac App Store, or as a standalone installer at the links above. Users on the public beta of OS X 10.10.3 apparently do not need the update, since the newer operating system likely already includes fixes for the problems addressed by this release.
Apple has not yet released the update notes to explain what has been fixed.
iPhoto has also been updated to improve compatibility with the upcoming Photos app that replaces it:
